Taking Education Into Our Own Hands
While strong social issues are becoming more apparent to society, a recent survey including Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, and Baby Boomers, showed that 59% of Americans felt their education didn't thoroughly cover topics like race and gender equality. Our response?
Making a shift to value personal education.
You know, watching a new documentary, doing research online, or reading that article… Learning something new by your own volition.
And you may have guessed it - younger generations are taking personal education very seriously, with about 80% of Gen Z and Millennial respondents saying that they have done something to learn about others of a different race, gender, disability, or sexual orientation within the past year.
So even if the American education system still has a long way to go to be considered fully inclusive, we are taking matters into our own hands instead of waiting for a shift to occur.
You are the shift, my friend.
Another example of this we are proud to present? A previous report from the Small Business Trends Alliance found that more Black women are turning to entrepreneurship than their counterparts in other racial or ethnic groups, due to issues like dissatisfaction with corporate America.
Once again: You are the shift.
Continue on being open to learning new things for the betterment of our communities, and do not be afraid to create your own path if the traditional way of doing things isn’t working for you.
That’s the millennial way, friends.
