Reminder: Your follower count is just a number

I’d be lying if I said the numbers didn’t matter. But over the years I’ve learned to understand that the only numbers that really matter are the number of souls I’ve touched while on this planet. I used to look at my follower count on Instagram and think to myself, gosh is it going to grow? Are people going to know what I’m working towards? Am I going to be able to reach everyone I need to? In the land of viral videos and discriminatory algorithms, it’s important to remember that life outside of your follower count matters. Real-life matters.

Since we started the millennial magic movement, we’ve been able to support so many real humans on the quest to rediscover and recommit to themselves. And the truth is, I can confidently say that the majority of the work that I do almost never makes social media. Why? Because it’s been more important to me to live in real-time. To serve. To be present. And to make change that pictures and videos could never do justice.

While it is important in business to share your wins, to tell your story, and to welcome in those who can grow from it, don’t ever forget that those numbers will never reflect the magnitude of your gifts, or the lives have changed simply through connection.

So while you’re launching your amazing brands, businesses and ideas remember this: impact is the bottom line. I know you’re out here getting it because you baby… are magical AF. And you matter, and the work you do matters to this world. Thank you for sharing your magic and inspiring our community — now and in advance 😉.
